The WBE transportation department is responsible for the coordination of bus lists, bus routes, vehicle repairs, vehicle maintenance, and staff recruitment.
Since the department's inception, we've been able to secure 3 brand-new buses, 6 local bus shelters for our students. With the support of Jordan’s Principle funding, we were able to purchase a 16+2 Passenger School Bus for handicap purposes. With the projected increase in student population and student transportation, we also purchased a 72 Passenger School Bus.
Currently, we employ 4 bus drivers, 4 bus monitors, and 2 bus licensed WBE staff who are also being utilized to fill in as bus/van drivers.
For the 2022-2023 school year, we had 345 students utilize the transportation services, which was an increase of 44 students. This year the bus routes are, South Bay/Buzwah/Lakeshore; Kaboni/Murray Hill; Rabbit Island/Bayview Heights; Andrew/Henry/Tower/Christine/Genevieve; In Town JK/SK, Spec Ed (Route 7); and Cape Smith.
